CHAPTER SEVEN
ELI MUST BE dreaming. He had to be. Beth had him quivering like a schoolboy. Unbelievable. The way fire had leapt through his veins at her kiss, at her touch, was unbelievable. Never had he experienced such heat.
Never had he wanted a woman as much as he wanted this one.
She was so beautiful, so responsive to his every touch, every kiss. Her body clung to his and he couldnât get hers close enough. He wanted inside her, but his brain warned him to take it slow, that he shouldnât rush this, that he hadnât figured out his head, his future, any of those things, and that acting on pure instinct might land him in trouble. His body wanted more, faster, and was obviously in control.
He pushed her skirt up her thighs, bunching the clingy material at her waist as he lifted her onto the kitchen countertop. Not taking his eyes off the glorious vision of her high heels, gorgeous long legs, and sexy little black panties, he finished undoing his pants to where they slid to his ankles from the weight of his pockets.
âYouâre beautiful.â
âYou make me feel that way.â
âYou should always feel that way because you are absolutely breathtaking.â His gaze locked with hers because he wanted to watch her pleasure; he pushed her panties aside and slid his fingers inside the warm, moist apex of Bethâs body.
Heaven.
She clutched his shoulders and cried out his name.
The look in her eyes, the unrestrained sound of his name on her lips undid him, pushed him beyond reason, not that he hadnât been close to slipping already. Using his fingers and mouth, he brought her to climax, donned a condom, then slipped inside her.
Tight. Hot. Wet. Amazing.
Heâd wanted something more, passion, to feel alive.
Heâd found it and a lot more.
Heâd found a woman who stimulated his brain and his body with her quick wit and her sexual appeal, a woman who freed him to do and feel more. A woman who made him smile.
He really was a lucky man.

Too bad that in all Bethâs many fantasies sheâd never followed through to what happened after the mind-blowing sex between Eli and her. Perhaps then sheâd have some clue as to what she was supposed to say or do at this very moment.
She didnât.
Oh, she could point out that sheâd sighed in pleasure and screamed in orgasmic ecstasy. Or that nothing about their coming together had been slow. Theyâd gone desperately fast and furious.
And lots of other F words.
Thank goodness heâd at least had enough wits about him to put on a condom. She wasnât sure sheâd have had the mental capacity to remember one had he not taken care of it. Sheâd been that lost in emotion.
Then again, he probably had more experience with this kind of thing than she did.
Her forehead rested on his slick-with-sweat shoulder. When had they removed his shirt? Had he done so or her? She vaguely remembered clawing at the material, at wanting to sink her fingers into his shoulders, while he.
